News reaching us at Luyis Updates NG that the Vice Chancellor of UNILAG has been sacked by the Governing Council.
Politics Nigeria reported that the governing council of the institution took the action against Professor Olawatoyin Ogundipe who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos.
It was gathered that his removal was announced on Wednesday during a meeting of the Governing Council of the institution which held at the National Universities Commission (NUC) building in Abuja. The meeting was presided over by Pro-Chancellor Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN).

According to what was released, seven members voted for the removal of Ogundipe (UNILAG Vice-Chancellor) while four voted against it. One member voted that he should be suspended.
In accordance to a signed statement from the management of the University of Lagos, the sacking of the Vice Chancellor became pertinent due to ongoing investigation over his abuse of office, financial recklessness, gross misconducts, and serious acts of wrongdoings.
