OAU Loses two Lecturers Within Two Days
Less than 48 hours after Professor Jerome Elusanya, a Professor of Paediatrics, was murdered by gunmen – Obafemi Awolowo University has lost another lecturer, the acting Head of department of Dramatic Arts, Dr. Victoria Oluwaremilekun Adeniyi.
Dr. Adeniyi, who directed this year’s convocation play four days ago, was said to have died on Sunday morning.
The cause of her death is currently unknown – however, a statement by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarenwaju, showed that the Vice Chancellor has ordered that a post mortem be conducted.
We confirmed that the deceased lecturer was also part of the academic procession of the University’s 44th convocation grand finale.
Professor Jerome Elusanya, the deceased Professor of Paediatrics – was on his way back from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, where he acted as an external examiner. The Nigeria Medical Association has demanded that the security look into the issue and also, that lives of Citizens should be better protected.
Dr. Adeniyi is the third lecturers OAU will be losing to death in this month. Earlier this month, Nicholas Igbokwe, a senior lecturer of the Department of Physical and Health Education, was said to have been found dead in his office.
Mr Igbokwe was said to have been without any traces of sickness before his death.
